@Jana. It is very common to pull an order from Shopify so you can examine it's status, financially and from a fulfillment perspective. It is also very common to pull fulfillment info from third-party warehouses, drop-shippers, etc. You figure out the required business logic, and then update one, the other or both. As long as the fulfillment company offers up their view of the world via FTP, email, Dropbox or an API, you can automate the whole supply chain, including Shopify.
