Have you correctly configured your ShopifyAPI::Session? If you don't have a valid session prepared before making your API calls, your requests will fail.

You are setting your Base.site incorrectly.The OAuth flow is for OAuth apps which your API client isn't. Your API client is just a Username/Password based approach.  There is no authentication involved...

Please read the ShopifyAPI gem on how to create a new product. We make all the root assumptions for you so you are working with "objects". No need to do anything like pass in "products" : { ... }....
